The Scout Program
Venturers is for young people age 15-17 and Rovers is for those 18-25. They are both member-driven and we are responsible for creating our own program with support from the group. We often do things Venturers and Rovers together, but not always.
The Scout program emphasizes having fun while learning by doing. We aim to youth expand their leadership skills and gain self confidence. As Sea Scouts, we are Scouts with an extra focus on water activities: canoeing, sailing, swimming, etc.
Commitment
Scouts is not a drop in program. Yes, we aim to do cool, adventurous stuff, but it’s not a pick and choose menu. It’s about teamwork–what we do, we do together. We will plan together and choose our activities and we will learn the skills to make those activities safe and fun. However, that depends upon everyone being there all the time, not just when the sun is shining. We grow as Scouts and people by living up to the commitments we make to the team even when things are a little difficult. And also when we challenge and support each other to do our best. We are there to help you do that.
Location
In the winter, the 403TO Sea Venturers, meet at 381 Sherbourne Street on Wednesdays from 7-9:00pm.
In May, June and September we meet at Queen City Yacht Club on Algonquin Island. Times vary by activity, but in May and June are typically from 5-9pm for canoeing and sailing.
As Venturers we often make plans that take us other places, so be sure to drop us a line before dropping by.

Summer sailing and watersports day camps Our Scout Group has a close relationship with Queen City Yacht Club. Some of our programming will happen onsite on Algonquin Island through May and June. UPDATE April 2024: Lots has been done. Warington has launched again and we’ll be getting the mast up and the sails bent in the next week or so. More to be done to make him pretty, but we’re going to spend the summer sailing him in the races at QCYC before then. Hello Scouts, Scouters
