The Wolf Cub Program
The Cub program is based on the idea of a pack, originally based on The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. The need for Cubs to work together and develop the ability to accomplish tasks and keep each other safe is at the heart of our program. This happens through weekly meetings and through weekend events.
Ritual and uniform enforce the sense of a pack, and Cubs are expected to wear their full uniform, necker and shirt, with pride every week and keep it neat and clean.
Events maybe camps or one day adventures. The outdoors is our playground, but the goal is to develop strong, independent and interdependent leaders. Even though Cubs are 8-10 years old, they are capable of much and the program is meant to challenge them. The youth will engage in activities in small, mixed-age groups called Lairs, where one or two of their peers will assume responsibility for some tasks and encourage participation of the whole group. At other times, they will work in age specific groups Runners (1st year), Trackers (2nd year) and Howlers (3rd year). The program covers a wide range of adventures that can lead to achieving Outdoor Adventure Skills or Personal Achievement Badges or simply exploring something new to the group or a beloved skill offered by a scouter or guest.
You and your child can explore the possibilities on ScoutsTracker, choosing to complete skills on your own and indicate the need for a scouter to test your Cub’s skill in a particular area. This can be something they are engaged in outside of Scouting like aquatic skills or a sport.
The youth led program reaches its peak in the older age groups, but even here Scouters will work with the Howlers to develop the program and lead particular aspects of weekly meetings.

In the winter, the Cubs meet at 188 Carlton Street on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00pm.

Nine of our Scouters gathered over the weekend to upgrade their canoeing skills. Canoeing is a great part of a Scouting program and this is especially true for Sea Scouts. We are starting a process of upgrading canoeing and sailing skills for all Scouters and older youth in our group so that they can lead - Summer sailing and watersports camps
Summer sailing and watersports day camps Our Scout Group has a close relationship with Queen City Yacht Club. Some of our programming will happen onsite on Algonquin Island through May and June. We had our first ever Raingutter Regatta last night and it went pretty well. Here’s a little video of the very last race between the winning Cub boat and the winning Scout boat. The Cubs and Scouts went to Fallbrook Trail Ranch last weekend for an amazing camp, riding and horse care experience. The site is 99 acres of farm and woodland. It’s a beautiful place even in the winter. The owners and staff were fantastic and the rides through the site were peaceful and pretty. We got - Cubs have an awesome camp on Snake Island!
Thanks to the great work of their Scouters, especially Scouters Jane (Jessica), Beth and Al, the Cub pack spent the weekend of June 24 on Snake Island and welcomed the Sea Scouts and friends from the 18th Willowdale to join them at camp.
