I was over at The Dock Shoppe picking up some lines for Uks-Looks and met a really interesting sailor who spent the winter tied up beside the chandlery. His told me his name is Paulie and he spent the winter here in Toronto harbour recovering from cancer treatment and preparing to sail south later this year.
He’s sailed across the ocean 5 times in total, including twice in his 25-foot yacht. It’s a beautiful cutter with a lot more sail area than I’m used to. I hope to get some photos the next time I drop by.
He has made some beautiful boats that he’s selling to raise money to sail south. His boats are not only beautiful but some of them are proper pond yachts that you can actually sail on local ponds! I hope to go back soon to visit and maybe buy a boat.
