Boats

Our fleet

Because we’re Sea Scouts and the easiest way to get out on the water is with your own boats, we have gradually built up a fleet of boats for our program. Sometimes members can borrow them if they take good care. Talk to our boat committee if you are a member and would like to use a boat outside of our Scout program

Peregrine

Peregrine was a gift from QCYC member Valerie Wint to us in 2024. We are very grateful to her and to Andrew for their gift. Peregrine is a C&C 30, mark 1. Built in 1973, she’s an old girl, but still in pretty good shape. We hope she’ll have a good few years of taking Scouts out on Lake Ontario.

Warington

Warington is a Kirby 23 donated to us by three racers at QCYC. Warington is named for Robert Baden-Powell’s eldest brother who introduced him to camping and boating. When Robert B-P was asked to found Scouting in 1907, he drew on that experience and in 1910 asked his brother Warington to write the first Sea Scout manual.

Uks-Looks

Not actually our boat, but the boat of Skipper Keith and Scouter Beth (and some of their friends), but we get to use it sometimes. Uks-Looks, which means “clear sailing” in Nisga’a, is a Grampian 26.

No Regrets

A beautiful Mirror dinghy, No Regrets was donated to us by David Palmer of the 3rd Tillsonburg Sea Scouts, who had been given it by 63rd Windsor:

So pleased that the Mirror worked out well for your scouts. Much better that she is in the water than in my garage. One request, 63rd Windsor requested that we keep the name of the boat unchanged. “No Regrets” was the inspirational name given to the boat by one of their Scouts.

Walker Bay 8

A cute little multi-use hull. We could sail it, but we intend it to be a boat for learning to row on.
