Tripping gear fitting – boat kits – Wed, Mar 25
We’ll be learning how to properly fit packs, tumps, barrel and wannigan harnesses for comfortable carrying. Bring your backpack. We’ll also be handing out the kits for the Raingutter Regatta boats.
Raingutter Regatta – Wed, Apr 8
Our second annual “Raingutter Regatta” indoor sailboat race will take place during our Wednesday meeting. We’ll meet early (6pm) and invite the Cubs to join us.
15th Anniversary of becoming Sea Scouts – Wed, Apr 22
This is the 15th anniversary of our becoming Sea Scouts. That year we had a little ceremony before a visit to the Toronto Police Marine Unit. This year we’ll visit the Harbourfront Fire Hall for the first time. I’m hoping we’ll get a chance to tour one of the fire boats. After the tour, we’ll do some fun things on the waterfront. We’ll meet at the firehall at 7pm. The hall is at 339 Queen’s Quay West, just west of where we meet to go to QCYC for sailing and canoeing.
Joe Thorne Memorial Competition Camp – Apr 24-26
Think you’re a good camper? Prove it! This camp is a chance for older Scouts to test their skills against Crews and Patrols from across Toronto. More details to come.
Fishing at Biidaasige – Wed, Apr 29
Details to come.
Island Time! – Boating meetings start May 6

We’ll be starting our boating season Wednesday, May 6. Our boating season meetings start at 5pm at Queen’s Quay East and York Street. We return on the 9pm tender, landing where we started, at 9:15pm.
This year we’ll being dividing into groups and doing all kinds of boating every week: keelboats, dinghies, and canoes. In addition, there will be an extra keelboat sailing night available for keen Scouts on Tuesdays starting May 5.
Algonquin area canoe trip – Jun 5-7

I’m excited for us to have a real canoe trip again this year. We will be travelling to an area just south of Algonquin Park. To be able to attend this trip, there are some basic requirements:
- Attend at least one camp with the Sea Scouts already
- Attend at least 3 of our 4 paddling meetings in May
Be aware that we chose this weekend because the TDSB has a PA day on the Friday and we will be leaving Toronto at 8am so we can get on the water and have a good start on day one.
